这是一部根据真人真事改编的电影，讲的是主人公Patch Adams怀着帮助病人的满腔热忱，从医学院学习期间就开始实践他的情绪治疗法，并开设免费诊所为穷困的人们服务的故事。主创人员将叙事的重点放在了Patch Adams怎样做而非为什么这样做，这使得前1/3时间里的部分剧情给人感觉比较突兀，但当你慢慢往后看的时候，从内心接受了Patch就是这样一个喜欢帮助别人的乐天派时，就会逐渐感受到那种人性光辉照耀下的温暖感觉。
这片子最开始打动我的是Patch在儿童病房里把灌肠的气球套在鼻子上
