Flicker Hayes reported to the police after arranging for two men to participate in a false attempted robbery, as they were responsible for his imprisonment. Dan Curly escaped, but another killed a police officer and sat on a chair, so Dan wanted two assassins to catch Flicker, who planned to leave the country. But he met the destitute Rose Lawrence, a former prostitute who wanted to hitchhike to a small fishing village in the south to marry a Portuguese fisherman. Flicker decided that this would be a great hiding place. After he seduced Rose, Flicker placed her on a bus ticket and left with her. But he was discovered by the Sims, and he tracked them and reported Flicker's whereabouts to Dan. Meanwhile, Rose fell in love with Flicker, who was unaware that the assassin would come to kill him.
