Joe 'Tom' Yateley is a former criminal. To get rid of the past, he decided to start working for the Hawlett Truck Transportation Company, which is responsible for transporting gravel. This is an aggressive company, and speed is everything. Too few runs a day? You're out. Red is the most experienced truck driver. He can run 18 times a day. Tom quickly made friends with his secretary Lucy and driver Gino. But Red's record attracted him and he wanted to break it. Gino suggested not to do so, but when Tom wanted to persevere, he would help him. Soon, when Red and the other drivers formed a united front against Tom, the trouble began. Just as Tom was full and decided to pack up, Lucy told Gino that there had been a terrible accident. She also told about the corruption of Hollett Freight.
